Christopher Veith

The Spot Where Chris Was Saved

This morning as I was standing in line with the pastor, staff, and Cornerstone Adult Choir; a young man walked up to me and said, "I was saved at Longview Baptist Temple at age 5." He told me of a Sunday school teacher who after Sunday school led Chris to Christ just outside the nursery door of LBT. It was August of 1990 at age 5 that Chris knelt and prayed to trust Christ as his Saviour. Chris told me tonight after church that it is as clear as anything he has ever done in his life! Tonight when I arrived back at my room I received a text from Chris that said he has been able to lead over 2,000 souls to Christ. WOW! GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING!

By the way when all the reports were given tonight at the service there were 50 souls that trusted Christ all together for this Lord's Day! WELL SOMEBODY SAY AMEN! I preached tonight on "HOW TO PAY YOUR BILLS!" The altar was packed with folks who were going to give to SACRIFICIAL SOUL WINNING and SACRIFICIAL GIVING! I believe LBT not only survived but succeeded because the dear members of that church did those two things! GOTTA LOVE SERVING THE LORD!

Sunday Morning at CBC

Dr. Matt Miller

Brandi, Trish, and Steve Rife

This morning I was up at 5:30, had my quiet time, 3 miles on the treadmill, and ate a light breakfast. I then showered, dressed, and worked on some new chapters. I then reviewed the Sunday school lesson on "WHO DO I LISTEN TO" and on my sermon "WHO SHALL BE DAMNED?" When I went down stairs the pastor was following up on a lady employee of the motel who is coming to the service tonight. He then drove me to the church. This dear church is 34 years old and was founded by my good friend of many years Dr. Dean Miller. They have hosted a ROUND UP SUNDAY for every year of those 34 years and today was their ROUND UP SUNDAY.  There were folks every where dressed up in western clothes.

When the pastor pulled up into the parking lot I looked up and there was the Rife family from Pastor Seulean's church in Longmont, Colorado, standing in the parking lot. They are celebrating their wedding anniversary and they got away for a few days. These are some of my favorite people in the whole world. When I have the honor of preaching for Pastor Seulean they are my hosts for the week. They have treated me like a king through out these many years. They are great personal soul winners!

At the invitation today there were 27 saved, 15 professions, and 2 baptized. The spirit was great and the music was excellent. Dr. Miller leaned over and pointed out a dear 72 year old lady who trusted Christ and he mentioned how unusual that is for someone of that age to trust Christ. The altar call was very organized and the buildings were full of dear people. His people worked extra hard for today and it was obvious.

Now I am back at the motel wondering how the COWBOYS are doing against the TEXANS! I have not seen any thing on the TV yet.  "Please Lord they are supposed to be your favorite team!" GOTTA LOVE FOOTBALL! Ha!

Saturday, September 25, 2010

I arrived at the Colorado Springs airport a little after 10 mountain time. Dr. Matt Miller and his Associate Pastor met me at the airport. Brother Glover was waiting as my luggage came down the luggage chute. They were so gracious to take me for a bite to eat. You would be proud of me all I had was a side salad! They of course made up for my eating light. In fact I enjoyed watching them eat. It was kind of a vicarious food experience!

They took me to the HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS and I met Amanda at the front desk. She was checking me in while I gave a preview of my Sunday school lesson to the pastor and Brother Glover. When I finished I asked if they had any Gospel tracts? Pastor gave me some and I turned to Amanda while saying to the pastor, "Let's see if this Gospel tract works?" I handed it to Amanda and told her this was a Gospel tract and she asked, "What is a Gospel tract?" "Ok, if I have too I will explain it too you!" While I was giving her the Gospel Pastor was talking to another employee of the motel. AMEN! In a few minutes both of these ladies bowed their head and asked Christ to be the payment for all of their sins! GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING!

I then rushed to my room to see how Arkansas was doing against Alabama! I forgot about the time change and so I went down and did my 3 miles on the treadmill. I came back to the room and watched a great game. I'll be switched though Alabama pulled it out! By the way the reason is the Arkansas ball players had to spend extra time on their Sunday school bus routes and were unable to practice like they would normally! RIGHT?

I was up at 3:30 and the little lady was already up and asking for breakfast. So being the master chief of the house I fixed her favorite meal. Mrs. Gray has had a rough two weeks! Her staph infection has erupted again and she has had blood tests and seen specialists. She has more appointments next month!

I will be picked up by Associate Pastor Bob Queen at 5:30 am and driven to Tyler to catch a flight to DFW and from there on to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to preach for my good friend Dr. Matt Miller. He pastors the Cornerstone Baptist Church founded by his father Dr. Dean Miller many years ago. It is an exciting and vibrant soul winning church and I am once again looking forward to being with them.

God has been so good to allow me to see 6 baptisms so far this month and I am excited about the possibilities of this week end. GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING!

Stephanie, Richard, Andrew, Dr. Gray, Garry Way, Rachael Suggs, Jullia Way, and Joe suggs

Tonight I had the honor of preaching at the Crossroads Baptist Church pastored by Pastor Garry Way.  Dr. Jack Hyles and I preached here in the old building years ago and when Pastor Way's name would come up as we preached together around the country Dr. Hyles would always say, "Brother Way and his family are the ideal pastor and family!" I believe that to this day! They love the Lord and are soul winners!

I preached tonight on "WHY YOU SHOULD BE A PERSONAL SOULWINNER?" I went to John chapter 4 where Jesus said to His disciples, not the young convert the woman at the well, "I sent you to reap." Sometimes some say, "I sow the seed" while another says, "I water the seed" and yet others say, "We leave the reaping up to others." Wait a minute we are to do all three! We are to all sow, water, and reap. Jesus rebuked his disciples when he said, "I sent you to reap." The one who brought souls to the Saviour was the woman at the well who just got saved! He never put that pressure on her because she did what all young converts do they tell everybody around them that they need to get saved! However, these disciples knew better and yet were not doing it! The same town that the woman at the well went to bring back those men to the Saviour is the same town the disciples went into and the only thing they brought back was a big mac, fries, and a diet coke.  No wonder the Saviour rebuked them! They knew better! WHY SHOULD YOU BE A PERSONAL SOUL WINNER?

I will be preaching tonight for my good friend Pastor Gary Way at the Crossroads Baptist Church of Gainesville, Texas. The service starts at 7 and the church is located on California Street in Gainesville. If you are in the area I hope you will be able to visit the service.

This morning I drove to Fort Worth to visit with my good friend Dr. Bruce Engelman who pastors the Temple Baptist Church of Fort Worth. As you know by now his dear wife Connie went home to be with the Lord this week and she will be buried on Tuesday. Bruce and Connie served with me for 5 1/2 years at Longview Baptist Temple. I know of no other couple as dedicated to the Lord's work as this dear couple. Connie will be missed!

I had an opportunity to meet with Justin and Jason along with their father. We had a wonderful time together and I was able to have prayer with them and then hit the road to come back to Gainesville. Please pray for this dear family!

The viewing will be tonight from 6-8 pm at the Greenwood Funeral Home on 3100 White Settlement Road of Fort Worth, Texas. The service will be conducted at the Trinity Baptist Church on Tuesday at 11 am. The church is located at 2212 N. Davis Drive in Arlington, Texas.

22 years ago I became acquainted with Pastor Gary Way and his dear family. I have had the honor of preaching for him for over two decades. He is a great man of God and this work in Gainesville, Texas, certainly is a reflection of his love for God. They have beautiful facilities and obviously have grown since last year.

Today was their first day of their fall Sunday school campaign. One of the many visitors that came today was a young man by the name of Daniel. He sat on the front row and listened intently and at the invitation time trusted Jesus Christ to pay for all of his sins. It was thrilling! There is shouting in Heaven over ONE sinner that repents! God put it within the grasp of all of His children to bring Joy to Heaven! GOTTA LOVE THE BUS MINISTRY!

Saturday, September 18, 2010

WOW! I actually was able to spend Saturday morning at home! I had to do some "honey do" projects and run several errands for the little lady of the house, but that was OK. I was able to also check on some of my converts and lead some folks to Christ. I then worked on a new chapter for JUST A THOUGHT Volume VI.

I believe my series of books entitled "LET'S TALK ABOUT JESUS" is complete now. It will be a 5 volume set and I honestly wish that every preacher could and would take the time to read this set of books. They are being proofed by Mrs. Marsha Parker who is the best at what she does. Very thorough! Then they will be given to my daughter Karen Forgy and then to her husband Tim Forgy. After that they will be sent back to me to review and make some last minute changes. I am extremely excited about this series! I will keep you updated!

Please visit SOLVECHURCHPROBLEMS.COM for available sermons that can be downloaded and many of my books are also available in an eBook formate through SMASHWORDS.COM and AMAZON.COM.  Just enter BOB GRAY SR and you will see what is available.

I drove to Gainesville, Texas, to preach for my good friend Dr. Gary Way who pastors the CROSSROADS BAPTIST CHURCH. They built a few years back one of the most beautiful church buildings! Dr. Way has been pastoring this dear church for 24 years and has done an excellent job of keeping the old time religion alive. I have had the honor of preaching for this dear man of God since 1989. Dr. Jack Hyles and I preached here together years ago. Dr. Hyles would often comment about Dr. Way and his family as being the ideal pastor and family. I believe he was right!

I just called my converts again to make sure they were still going in the morning. I have had 5 baptisms so far this month and I'm looking forward to a great day back at LBT and other churches where God has allowed me to have potential baptisms. GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING!

Thursday night one of the dearest ladies I have ever known went home to be with the Lord. Mrs. Connie Engelman who had been fighting cancer for many months finally saw the face of her Saviour. Mrs. Engelman was the dear wife of Pastor Bruce Engelman of the BAPTIST TEMPLE of Fort Worth, Texas. Bruce and Connie were staff members as well as church members of LBT for almost 5 years. I have never known a more faithful and dedicated couple in my 38 years of preaching. I had the honor of preaching for Bruce for many years and have admired his family. Please pray for this dear family.

Visitation will be held Monday from 6-8 at the Greenwood Funeral Home at 3100 White Settlement Road of Fort Worth, Texas, and the service will be conducted at 11 am on Tuesday at the Trinity Baptist Church at 2212 N. Davis Drive of Arlington, Texas.

Psalm 116:15, "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints."

Sunday, September 12, 2010

Tonight I preached my sermon "GOD THE BUILDER." The building was full and the response was great. Pastor Slate pastors the Colonial Baptist Church and they certainly have grown since last year that I was with them. I have preached for Pastor Slate for over 24 years in the three churches he has pastored. He has been the pastor here for 6 years and I believe their greatest days are ahead! The building they are in now was a Nazarene church building and they purchased and remodeled this building a couple of years ago and it looks great. They out grew their other building and now it appears even with going to two services on Sunday morning it will not be long until they will have to build or re-locate. GOTTA LOVE SERVING THE LORD!

I will have to set my alarm for 2:30 am in order to be ready to catch an early flight out of Fayetteville, Arkansas. I am so glad to be going home on a Monday. I should be home before noon hopefully!
A full week at home! YEA!

This has been a good month for my soul winning with 16 led to Christ and 5 following the Lord in baptism so far! AMEN! GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING!

Colonial  Baptist Church Adult Choir

I was up at 5:30 this morning and had my quiet time, did 3.25 miles on the treadmill, and went to eat a light breakfast. I have an iphone4 and I have hundreds of sermons by Dr. Jack Hyles, Dr. Lee Roberson, Dr. Curtis Hutson, Evangelist Lester Roloff, and Evangelist Carl Hatch. As I was eating breakfast in the breakfast area with my Bible (KJB) open a man walked up to me and asked what I was listening to. I told him it was preaching! He asked if he could listen to it and he did. He said "WOW! That's what you call Hell fire and damnation preaching isn't it?" I said yes! Well, guess what happened after a few minutes. Charles bowed his head and prayed to trust Christ to pay for all his sins. GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING! After praying he literally wept and laid his head on my shoulder and thanked me for sharing the Gospel with him. He said to me, "I cannot begin to tell you how I needed this?" AMEN!

I left to preach the early service at the Colonial Baptist Church with Pastor Claud Slate. I have had the honor of preaching for Pastor Slate through out these past 24 years in the three churches he has pastored. He is a man of God and loves God with all of his heart! He has a great family and I predict this church will be a great influence for Christ in this growing Northwest part of Arkansas. I preached my sermon "LOVE IS REALLY CHARITY" in the first service and in the second preaching service I preached my sermon "WHEN I AM WEAK THEN AM I STRONG." The altars were full for both services. We had 4 saved, 2 professions, and 2 baptisms. I am looking forward to tonight's service at 6 pm. This will be a short service because I have to get back to my motel room for prayer. (By the way the Cowboys are playing at 7) GOTTA LOVE SERVING GOD!

Saturday, September 11, 2010

I was up at 4:00 this morning, had my quiet time, did 3 miles on the treadmill, and fixed a light breakfast. I always pack the night before so I am ready for the next day's trip. I loaded the car this morning and then watched a DVR of the West Virginia-Marshall NCAA football game. WOW! What a finish! I thought for  sure that Marshall was going to pull this one out. This is the 40th anniversary of the terrible plane crash that killed the entire Marshall football time!

Assistant Pastor and Mrs. Bob Queen drove me to the Shreveport airport this morning. They picked me up at 7:45 and when I arrived at the airport they had cancelled the flight. So, I was placed on the 11:05 flight to DFW. I arrived at the DFW airport and had to wait for 2 1/2 hours for the next flight. I arrived at the Fayetteville, Arkansas, airport at 3:30.

I was taken to the motel and Pastor Claud Slate picked me up and we looked at some property he was interested in and then we went to the church for his ANNUAL MEN'S FREE BANQUET. This is the time they review the past year and prepare for an ANNUAL FAITH OFFERING for the Sunday before Thanksgiving. The men were joking by telling the new men that this is the most expensive FREE BANQUET they would ever attend! Ha! After a nice catered meal I spoke to the men and encouraged them to give sacrificially. A church survives on their offering plate money and succeeds on the above offering plate money. The progress that is made is made with the sacrificial giving of God's people.

Pastor Slate gave me his truck to drive this week end and so after the banquet I drove myself to the MAINSTAY MOTEL. I just finished making phone calls to my converts and reminding them about Sunday school in the morning. I have 3 converts lined up in 3 different churches. GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING!

Dr. Monte Watts

Tonight was the second night of THE FOUNDATION CONFERENCE in Macomb, Illinois, at the Victory Baptist Church pastored by Pastor Jim Eddy. Pastor Eddy has been pastoring here for 2 1/2 years and is doing a wonderful job of leading the church in personal soul winning. We were blessed with wonderful crowds and a tremendous spirit. I believe tonight Dr. Watts preached as great a sermon on reaching the poor and obtaining the blessing of God as I have ever heard. What a great man of God!

Tonight I preached on "LET'S GO SOUL WARNING" and the altars were full and the response was tremendous. This is a young church but a church with a great heart and a love for the work of God. I am excited to see what God has in store for them. The pastor and his family are wonderful servants and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I will be up at 4 am and the Pastor will drive me to the Peoria, Illinois, airport for a 7:30 flight. It takes 1 1/2 hours to make the trip from Macomb to Peoria. I am certainly looking forward to getting home to see my bride and her poodle "peaches." I told her one day "I wish you loved me half as much as you do that poodle?" She replied, "I do!"

We have several lined up to come to church here this next week. I am anxious to hear the reports. I challenged the people to night to simply "warn" people and leave the "results" up to God. I used Mark 16:15 to start with. "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." I then took them to Ezekiel chapter 3 and marked each time the word "warn" or "warning" or "warned" was used. I pointed out that we do not have bloody hands because we do not "win"the lost but we have bloody hands because we do not "warn" the lost!

There are four types of evangelism being promoted today and only the last one is the effective and Biblical one!

  • Lifestyle Evangelism
  • Fellowship Evangelism
  • Pulpit Evangelism
  • Personal Evangelism

  1. People were going to Hell before there ever was a religion (II Thessalonians 2:10-12)
  2. No human has the power to send another human to Hell
  3. We let people go to Hell
  4. God has promised to warn everyone at least one time (Titus 2:11)
  5. God has given to us the intercessory work of warning people (John 20:21)
  6. You never warn the wrong person
  7. If you warn enough people someone will listen (Acts 17:34)

Dr. Monte Watts, Mike Henson, Pastor Jim Eddy

I was up early this morning had my quiet time, ate a light breakfast and a 3 mile walk. Came back to the room and finished two chapters on my new book "LET'S TALK ABOUT JESUS!" Then I went for another 3 mile walk. The kids gave me a gift card for Academy Sports Store and I bought a pair of Nike+ running shoes with a chip in the shoe to show how many miles, calories, and time on my iPhone. Then it is recorded on the computer. The difference between boys and men is the price of their toys! Ha!

When I came back to the motel I greeted the little lady cleaning the rooms and talked to her for a little. She told me she attended a church called "The Crossing." I asked if she knew she was going to Heaven when she died and she said, "Well I've been baptized. Does that count?" Of course I went through the Scriptures carefully and explained that baptism does not save the soul it only pictures what has happened to the soul! Only the blood of Jesus Christ can cleanse a man's soul so he can enter Heaven at death. In a few moments she bowed her head and trusted Christ to pay for all of her sins. GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING!

This afternoon I meet Dr. and Mrs. Monte Watts at the front door of the BEST WESTERN MOTEL. I greeted them as I was on my way to eat a bite. I asked them if they wanted anything and Mrs. Watts said she wanted a happy meal for a girl. Tonight when I left to go to church to preach I stopped by McDonalds and bought her a happy mean for a little girl. When I walked in the back of the church she was sitting on the back row and I gave her the happy mean. Maybe that will keep her happy for at least one day! Ha!

Dr. Watts is the founder of THE FOUNDATION CONFERENCE and I have had the honor of preaching in hundreds of these meetings throughout the years. Dr. and Mrs. Watts are dear friends and faithful servants. Tonight Mike Henson from Calvary Baptist Church of Canton, Illinois, led the singing and sang the specials. What a great sermon by Evangelist Monte Watts tonight!

I preached my sermon "GOD'S SIMPLE PLAN FOR A SOUL WINNING CHURCH" out of Luke 14:12-24. This is a parable! An earthly story with a Heavenly truth!

  1. Make church a feast (13)
  2. Call the poor (13)
  3. Do not expect the converts to pay the bills (14)
  4. Trust God to pay the bills (14)
  5. Prepare for converts (15-17)
  6. Remove their excuses (18-20)
  7. Bring your own converts to church (21-23)
  8. Turn your bidding into compelling (16-17; 22-24)

Pastor's Mom Donna Thurman
Pastor Jim Eddy

I flew into the Peoria, Illinois, airport on Saturday and was met by Pastor Jim Eddy who pastors the Victory Baptist Church of Macomb, Illinois. He has been their pastor for the past two years and this is my first time to preach at Victory. He is a 1999 graduate of TEXAS BAPTIST COLLEGE and served for years at his home church in Canton, Illinois. Macomb is a town of 20,000 and is the home of the WESTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY.

Between Sunday school and the preaching hour I was able to talk to Pastor's mom Donna Thurman. Donna was led to Christ in 1998 and baptized at Longview Baptist Temple. Her husband Jim C. Eddy I was also able to lead to Christ at his son's graduation service. His dad is now in Heaven! GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING!

Saturday, September 4, 2010

Assistant Pastor Bob Queen will pick me up at 8:45 and drive me to Tyler, Texas, to catch a flight to DFW. I will fly from DFW to Peoria, Illinois, where I will be preaching in a FOUNDATION CONFERENCE with Dr. Monte Watts and Dr. Russell Anderson through Tuesday.

Pastor Jim Eddy who pastors the Victory Baptist Church of Macomb, Illinois, is a TEXAS BAPTIST COLLEGE graduate. He is a fine soul winner and has a wonderful family. I am looking forward to being with him. TBC has over 400 graduates now and we are very proud of them. There is one thing for sure about TBC and that is no faculty or staff member will ever put a question mark on the KJB. We believe not as some that only the originals are inspired but rather we teach and believe in preserved inspiration. The King James Bible is the pure preserved inspired Word of God for the English speaking people. This is not as some have eluded to be dual or double inspiration but rather continued preserved inspiration.

Just listen or look at the tweets of the young pups and you will see their admiration for the EMERGING CHURCH leaders and soon it will embrace a non inspired Bible. It is amazing to me that what I call WORD MASTERS have captivated the minds of so many. Yet, these WORD MASTERS have never built any thing and boy oh boy are they ever quotable. I think it is like having "tickling ears?" Leonard Ravenhill was the rage of my day yet he crossed doctrinal lines without a concern. Dangerous to follow such WORD MASTERS! C. S. Lewis is another one who has an audience and is quoted often and is dangerous! Rick Warren did not build a church he built a SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE on Sunday mornings! His spiritual offspring are the rage of the Southern Baptist Convention now and are secretly conducting LEADERSHIP SEMINARS for young independent Baptist Preachers. If it is entertainment centers you want then do not call it a church call it what it really is! I am seriously wondering if it might not do us good to name these compromisers so we ALL know who to be aware of?

When the pastor of the largest independent Baptist church quotes a man like Setzer to entice people to come to his conference we are in serious trouble. When he endorses a worldly church as having one of the fastest growing churches in America something is seriously wrong! Young men of God the OLD TIME RELIGION still works! Do not follow these WORD MASTERS because you are not "considering the end." GOTTA LOVE THE OLD TIME RELIGION!

Bob II and Kelly
Mom, Bob II, and Dad I

Bob called and asked if his mom and I could do a video greeting for Willis Shepherd.  It took Mrs. Gray a while to get ready because it is so hard to dress with her being in so much pain. Of course it takes women a long time any way! Ha! I hope she doesn't see this blog! Ha! Bob and Kelly came by and we had a wonderful visit. Since Bob has become pastor we do not have the opportunity to visit as much as before. He and Kelly are doing a great job of leading LBT. I am extremely proud of them. I believe the greatest days are ahead for LBT.

Willis was Chairman of the Longview Baptist Temple Deacon board during my 29 years of pastoring LBT. He was one of the most loyal and faithful men I have ever met in my 38 years of preaching. He is celebrating his 80th birthday and there will be a birthday celebration on Sunday night at LBT for him! He was 50 when Mrs. Gray and I, along with our four children, came to Texas to pastor LBT. He was so kind to us and was always encouraging even in those rough days. He would come and repair our dryer and to God be the glory to this day it is still running. Over 1 million souls came to Christ during those 29 years and Brother Shepherd was one of the reasons the people placed their confidence in us. Thank you Brother Shepherd and happy 80th birthday my friend! GOTTA LOVE SERVING THE LORD!
