Pastor Scott Hanks

Sunday School

Sunday Night at FBC

I flew to Omaha, NE, and then drove to Lawrence, KS, last night and preach for my friend Pastor Scott Hanks who pastors the HERITAGE BAPTIST CHURCH of Lawrence. He has been their pastor for 16 years and is doing a marvelous job. God gave us 5 souls and the folks were very responsive and obviously love the Lord, their church, and their pastor.

I taught Sunday school on my lesson of "FORGIVENESS." The pastor gave an altar call after the lesson. It was a great moving of the Spirit of God. Many came to me after the services and said it was exactly what they needed. I preached on "WHO SHALL BE DAMNED?" God blessed the invitation with 5 souls.

I then was taken on a tour of their new church auditorium that is just about complete. It is going to be beautiful and very practical. Please do yourself a favor and visit this soul winning church in Lawrence.

I then had lunch with the pastor and some of his staff. I drove 3 1/2 hours north to Plattsmouth and joined my son Dr. Scott Gray for the service tonight. WOW! I had not seen the completed new church auditorium until tonight. The FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH of Plattsmouth, NE, is one that will take your breath away! Dr. Raymond Wicks led his church in finding the land and building this building. You must visit this church sometime! You will love the spirit of the pastor and the people. Scott preached first and I preached second my sermon "GOD THE BUILDER." The folks started coming to the altar before the invitation began. It was a tremendous Sunday night crowd and a great response. Scott and I will be preaching again at 7 pm on Monday night. If you are in the area please come and be with us! GOTTA LOVE SERVING THE LORD!

At the end of each year I total the number of sermons, souls I've led to Christ, and those who followed the Lord in baptism for the previous year and an accumulate number.  I have done this since coming to Texas in 1980. To God be the glory! Through December 31, 2010, I have been allowed to preach 26,835 sermons, lead 15,406 to Christ, and have 4,512 of those converts follow the Lord in baptism. In 2010 God gave me 449 souls and 113 of those following the Lord in baptism. GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING!

I will be flying to Omaha, NE, in the morning and then renting a car to drive to Lawrence, KS, to preach Sunday morning for Pastor Scott Hanks. This will be my first time to preach for the HERITAGE BAPTIST CHURCH in Lawrence. I knew Pastor Hanks' dad the late Pastor John Hanks very well and I am looking forward to preaching for his son Sunday morning.

Danny Peurifoy
I will then drive 3 hours to be with Dr. Raymond Wicks who pastors the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH of Plattsmouth, NE, after the morning service for a 6 pm service.  Dr. Wicks and his dear people have just moved into a beautiful new facility.  I have followed from the beginning of its inception through the planning stages to the completion stage. I am very excited to see the finished facilities.

My son Dr. Scott Gray will join me on Sunday night and for a special Monday night service. I am looking forward to sharing the pulpit with my son. I have two sons who are men of God and I am extremely excited for them. My son Bob II is the pastor of the LONGVIEW BAPTIST TEMPLE now and is doing a tremendous job. The church is still growing and I am thrilled to be a member!

Today I attended the funeral of one of the finest soul winning layman I have ever known. I was privileged to be his pastor for 29 1/2 years. He averaged 1,000 souls saved a year for many years. He was a very quiet man until he began giving out the Gospel. When he went soul winning he did not know a stranger. He is in the presence of his LORD now and in no more pain. The picture is one of the AMERICA FOR CHRIST teams who met with him just before going out on their routes a week before Danny's home going. Danny was a faithful member of that team for many years. God bless his memory! GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNERS!

It was an honor to preach for my good friend Dr. Carl Carlson who pastors the FELLOWSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH of Irving, Texas. He has pastored there for 10 years. He and his dear wife have had serious health issue. He has many heart surgeries and recently was diagnosed as having Lupus. His wife has had several strokes and it has been very difficult for them to say the least.

Sunday God gave us 5 souls and one for baptism. I preached my sermon "Who Shall Be Damned?"and Russ was one of those who said yes to Jesus. It is a miracle that this dear church is functioning as well as she is with her pastor and pastor's wife being in such ill health. Please place them on your prayer list. The men of that church are amazing men!

LBT Service
Mrs. Gray was taken to the hospital this past Wednesday. She had not eaten in four days and was extremely weak. No fluids and no food for four days is not a good thing. They kept her and ran all kinds of test and discovered that her potassium was low and was the problem. Of course bad potassium levels can be a serious thing for the heart. They gave her fluids and potassium. She is home and continuing to take medication. I drove to Irving and drove home that afternoon to be with her.

I attended the Sunday night service at Longview Baptist Temple and heard my son, Dr. Bob Gray II, preach "Is Everyone In The Ark!" Wow, what a great truth! He is doing a wonderful job! I am very proud of him. Both Bob and Scott are great preachers and great men of God in their own right! Of course my daughters Kim and Karen are great preachers also! Ha! GOTTA LOVE FAMILY!

I will be driving to Irving, Texas, in the morning to preach for my good friend Pastor Carl Carlson. Pastor Carlson has been the pastor of the FELLOWSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH of Irving for 10 years this coming March. He and his dear wife have certainly had their share of health issues. His wife has had multiple strokes and Pastor Carlson has been near death with heart issues several times. Mrs. Gray and I pray for this dear couple regularly and we admire their tenacity and hard work for the Lord.

My daughter Karen texted me today and told me that two of my books will soon be coming off the press. My new book on "HEAVEN" and my "PERSONAL SOUL WINNERS MANUEL" book will soon be coming off the press. I am dedicating my book on Heaven to my dear mother who went home to be with the Lord on Christmas Day of 2010. Not a finer mother in the world than this dear lady.

By the way you can go to SMASHWORDS.COM and download any of my books in e-book form or go to AMAZON.COM and type in Bob Gray Sr. and you will see my books there also that can be downloaded as an ibook on Kindle. If you would like you could go to SOLVECHURCHPROBLEMS.COM and order any of my books through that web site. I have several new books in the works and hopefully I will be able to produce 5 new ones this year. GOTTA LOVE SERVING THE LORD!

Pastor Bill Davis

I preached at the Grace Baptist Church of Cedar Grove, NC, on Monday night. I preached my sermon, "THREE MEN SEEK THEE." The altars were full and many committed themselves to go soul winning this week. Pastor Charles Hamilton is doing a wonderful job of leading this church in being soul winners. He has been their pastor for 5 years and Sunday they had 124 in attendance with 5 saved, 4 professions, and 2 baptized. They have had a high of 210! Amazing to think that just 5 years ago he began with 13 in attendance. You would almost think that soul winning really works!

Last night my good friend Pastor Bill Davis who pastors the Cornerstone Baptist Church of Greensboro was in attendance. I believe this is one of the great pulpiteers in the country. I will be preaching for him on July 24-25 of this year. If you can put that on your calendar and make it to the Monday night meeting it would be worth it! GOTTA LOVE SERVING THE LORD!

Pastor Charles Hamilton
Mike Trusted Christ

I flew to Raleigh Durham, NC, yesterday and I was meet at the airport by Pastor and Mrs. Hamilton. Pastor Hamilton is the pastor of the GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH of Cedar Grove. He has been pastor here for 5 years and is doing a great job of leading this church to aggressively win souls.

This morning I taught my Sunday school lesson on "MOTIVES" and preached my sermon on "WHEN I AM WEAK THEN AM I STRONG." The building was packed. This was their "FAMILY SUNDAY." There were 30 visitors present this morning with 5 of those trusting Christ and 2 following the Lord in baptism. I am looking forward to preaching tonight and tomorrow night. If you are in the area the Monday night service starts at 7 pm. Please make plans to join us!

One man who recently had a leg amputated trusted Christ and made a profession of faith and is planning on getting baptized tonight. This man was a blessing. I joked with him and he said he thought he was sarcastic until he meet me! Ha!

On the flight here I sat across the aisle from Dr. and Mrs. Tim Lee. What a blessing to have men like this who were willing to put their very lives in jeopardy for the freedom of America. I salute you my friend! Thank you for all that you have sacrificed for me and my family. GOTTA LOVE AMERICA!

Well, here we go again. Someone ought to write a song about "On The Road Again." I'll work on it while I'm flying. I was up at 7 am. WOW! I actually slept in! Amazing! Unloaded the dishwasher, quiet time, treadmill, showered, and dressed.

I will be flying to Raleigh Durham, NC, today and preaching at the GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH of Cedar Grove. Pastor Charles Hamilton is doing a wonderful job of leading this church to the spreading of the Gospel.

Mrs. Gray has had a rough week with this cold weather hitting East Texas. However, she has her poodle and a heating blanket to keep her warm. She went to the doctor last week and she has a "hernia" that will have to be taken care of it the next few months.

December was a great month for soul winning with 46 people bowing their heads to pray and trust Christ to pay for all of their sins. It is a wonderful thing to be able to share the Gospel of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the only way to have past, present, and future sins paid for. When those sins are given to Christ by faith His blood cleanses the soul of that person. Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Saved from what? Hell, because Hell is the penalty for just one sin and only the shed blood of Christ applied to the soul of a man can save that man's soul. The body is not saved but the soul is saved! You never hear a preacher say, "We had 5 bodies saved today!" No it is always 5 souls saved! When you trust Christ to pay for your sins this time on earth is all the Hell you will ever know. You are eternally secure! If you reject Christ this time on earth will be all the Heaven you will ever know! GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING!

Fireplace in Texas

Peaches in the Snow

Bob II & Family

Who would have believed it! It snowed for the second time in two years in Texas. We had 3 inches and it was beautiful. I was in Virginia preaching and missed being here on Sunday for the snow but Mrs. Gray has learned how to take pictures on her cell phone. Can you believe that? Now we will not have to depend on our teen grandchildren for technical expertise!

I flew in on Monday and a snow storm hit where I was on Tuesday. It has been very cold in the teens at night! I will be flying to Raleigh Durham, NC, this week end and hopefully the snow storm that hit the East will have dissipated by then. GOTTA LOVE SNOW!

Dr. Ron Talley

I had the wonderful privilege of preaching at the HYLES BAPTIST CHURCH of Chesterfield, VA., this morning. I will be preaching tonight also at 6:30. Dr. Talley and I attended college together and my wife and I love the Talley family dearly! This man of God is doing a phenomenal job of leading this church in the winning of the lost to Christ. He is one of the finest preachers to ever mount the pulpit in my opinion. I have heard the best and he is one of the best! God bless you Dr. Talley. God gave us 8 precious souls this morning. The buildings were packed and the Spirit of God had liberty to work. The music was old fashioned and the people very responsive. WOW! I loved it!

What a great name for an independent Baptist church! There is no other man of God I could think of that epitomized more of what God had in mind for His men than my preacher Dr. Jack Hyles. Dr. Talley did not name the church it was already given this name when he became pastor in September of 1986. There were nine people in attendance and five of those were his family. God has blessed and continues to bless!

This is not man worship they exhibit here but it is admiration. Without a leader there would never be a cause and without a cause there is distain for leaders.

Dr. John R. Rice became aware of God's hand being on Dr. Hyles and that is why he promoted him so much in THE SWORD OF THE LORD. In fact one time in the late 70's I asked Dr. Rice to host a SWORD CONFERENCE in Bourbonnais, Illinois. He told me that Dr. Hyles scheduled all of the SWORD CONFERENCES and that he had complete confidence in this "man of God." So much for the distain that Dr. Rice had for uplifting a "man." Dr. Rice always gave Dr. Hyles the key-note preaching time on the schedule. Keep those cards, letters, and emails coming! GOTTA LOVE SERVING THE LORD!

Saturday, January 8, 2011

Well here we go again. Up at 2:45, quiet time, treadmill, showered, dressed, and worked on a few new chapters. Assistant Pastor Bob Queen will pick me up at 5:15 to take me to the Tyler airport and from there I will fly to DFW airport then on to Richmond, VA.

I will be preaching for my good friend of many years Dr. Ron Talley who pastors the HYLES BAPTIST CHURCH of Chesterfield, VA. He is one of the finest preachers to ever mount a pulpit. He has done a marvelous job of leading his church in soul winning and spiritual growth of his people.

I have had a great start for this new year. God has allowed me to lead 6 people to Christ going into this week end. Hopefully I will see many more before the end of the week end. I will be flying back on Monday and I am looking forward to watching the Championship football game Monday night. GOTTA LOVE FOOTBALL!

Pastor Tracy Curington

Stacy Holder

Stacy's Baptism

This morning it was my honor to preach for my good friend Pastor Tracy Curington. He pastors the  BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH of Ardmore, OK. He and his dear family started this church 5 years ago and he is certainly doing a wonderful job of reaching Ardmore with the Gospel. There were 15 saved on Saturday, 6 saved on Sunday, 3 professions, 1 addition, and 1 baptism today! The service tonight starts at 7 pm and I am looking forward to preaching once again tonight!

I have always admired these men of God whom God has laid on their hearts to start churches. These are heroes of the faith in my mind. I think of my dear friend Pastor Doug Jackson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Pastor R. A. Smith of Fort Worth, Texas, and many others who obeyed God and started churches. These and many others such as Pastor Craig Bryan of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Pastor Dave Carlson of New Hampshire are heroes of the faith. There are too many to mention here but they are what made America great in the past! May God continue to bless you dear men of God!

If you are ever in Ardmore please make plans to attend one of the services of the BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH. You will sense the Holy Spirit working in their services! GOTTA LOVE SERVING THE LORD!

What are they drinking?

My mother went home to Heaven on Christmas Day 2010. She left behind a heritage of integrity, character, and honesty. She was as tender as she was tough. Mama and Daddy lived through a depression and were survivors. Daddy went to Heaven in January of 1990 at age 80. Mama was 98 went she went to Heaven. She was met not only by our Saviour but also two sons, a husband, and many other friends along with many family members.

Our family delayed our annual Christmas gathering until Friday night. This is a highlight of the year for us. We had fun, food, fellowship, and a lot of sarcasm. This is a sarcastic bunch to say the least! We had a great time! GOTTA LOVE FAMILY!
