3 WEEKS LEFT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF 50% PRE-SALE OFFER!

There are 3 weeks left to take advantage of the 50% off offer of my two new books TRIAL BY FIRE and JACK HYLES-The Communicator if purchased by the case of 16.  Eight of each book will be placed  into each case and shipped directly to you from the printer in MN.

They will be offered at $25 a book after they come off the presses.  Today they will be offered at $12.50 a book if purchased by the case of 16 plus S/H.  Again, there will be 8 of each book in the one case.

Both books are 384 page hardback books with beautiful dust jackets.  There are 33 chapters in each.  TRAIL BY FIRE will take on the philosophies of the "Emerging Church" and the internet attacks on fundamentalism.

I will also deal with millenarianism.   The so-called Millennialist are deceptive in their critiquing. This strafing will only strengthen those who are grounded in Biblical principles. I will answer an assault by Linda Murphrey on her dad.

I am glad to be apart of the heritage, birthright, legacy, and patrimony handed to me and thousands of others.  We do not need to re-write the King James Bible we need to re-read the King James Bible.  We do not need to re-write our holiness stand we need to re-live our holiness stand.  We do not need to re-write our music we need to re-sing old hymns of the faith.  We do not need to re-vamp our soul winning we need to re-visit our soul winning of the past, going out 2 x 2 to win the unsaved to Christ.

We do not need to re-name our Church services to "Worship Services" but re-visit old fashioned preaching on Sundays. We do not need to re-place our adult choirs filled with godly saints, who can barely hold a tune in some cases, and re-place them with 6 professionals, our version of the "Worship and PraiseTeam."

Please take advantage of this 50% offer for a case of these of books.  8 of each in one case of 16 for $200, plus S/H, which equals $12.50 for each book.

FORGIVENESS!

The Most Beautiful Sunset

Ephesians 4:25-26   25“Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.   26Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:”

I love the heavens; they are majestic in their beauty.  There is nothing more thrilling than walking out on a clear, starry night and observing the sky. Countless stars twinkle brightly against an infinite backdrop of blackest night, and the moon slowly circles the earth, completing its cycle from dusk to dawn. Then at dawn, the sun extends its rays over the horizon, awakening God’s creation to a new day.

However, I think one of the most brilliant displays of God’s beauty is the sunset.  It serenely signals the end of the day, telling the world it is time to rest and refresh itself for a new day. I love the western sunset on the Arizona desert. I have seen the sun go down in London, the Hawaiian Islands, Athens, Jerusalem, and Rome. I have seen the sun slowly slip behind the Sierra Madre mountain range in Mexico. I have seen the sun set in the Caribbean and the St. Thomas Islands. I have seen the sunset of the Colorado Mountains and the Ozark mountains.

The most beautiful sunset I have ever seen, however, was the one I saw in March of 1972, when I made things right with my last enemy. I was finally able to say that the sun had not gone down on my wrath.

I had just attended the Pastors’ School in Hammond, Indiana.  Dr. Jack Hyles had preached his famous sermon “Fresh Oil.” He told the story of his daughter’s near death from hemorrhaging after a simple tonsillectomy. During the crisis, while he desperately prayed for God to save her life, he asked God to show him if there was anyone with whom he needed to make things right. He said that immediately he saw the face of a deacon with whom he had quarreled. At that point in the sermon, he stopped and asked us, “Whose face do you see?”

He gave the invitation, and I went as close to the altar as I could in that packed auditorium. I asked God to show me if I needed to make amends with anyone. I saw three faces in my mind; they were bitter enemies of mine.

I went home and told my wife that I needed to leave for a couple of days so I could make things right with these men. One of the men had done me wrong, but I still needed to make things right. I went to see one man in Indiana, another in Kalamazoo, Michigan; and still another in Ohio. I made things right with all three men.

The sunset that night was the most beautiful sunset I had ever seen. The Emerald Isles were greener, and the topaz hue was a more brilliant yellow than before.  The snow-filled mountains reached further to the heavens.  The heavenly rose garden was lovelier. The grandeur of the night sky was more majestic. Why?  Because I could go to bed that night knowing there was nothing between me and any other person in the world.

I refuse to go to bed at night pursuing an enemy with imaginary plots of revenge. I refuse to go to bed at night refreshing my mind with my critic’s malicious complaints. I refuse to go to bed plotting a new strategy to foil my adversary. I refuse to go to bed at night welcoming my foes into the dormitory of my mind so I can fantasize my vengeance. For the last 34 years, I have never gone to bed plotting vengeance. I am a happy preacher.

I am still misunderstood and criticized. People write articles about me and preach against me. I will preach against the criticism of the independent Baptist church, the Word of God, soul winning, and standards; however, I refuse to go to bed with bitterness in my heart toward any individual.

My children never heard me spew hatred in my home about anyone. They heard about problems at school, but they never heard me talk about those problems.  It would not have been right for me to bring bitterness home to my children.

If you have bitterness and hatred in your heart, you will never have peace until you obey this verse and make things right. If you hate someone, you are hurting yourself, not him. He is sleeping peacefully at night, while you lie in bed, tossing and turning until morning.

The song “Nothing Between” says, “Nothing between my soul and the Saviour, Naught of this world’s elusive dreams, I have renounced all sinful pleasure. Jesus is mine; there’s nothing between.”  Can you sing that song with a clear conscience?

Whom do you hate with a passion? Is your heart burning with a desire to seek vengeance towards someone? Do you have bitterness towards a spouse or your in-laws? Has someone in the church mistreated you, causing you to have bitterness in your heart towards him, or her? Are you bitter because the preacher has offended you? There are deacons, Sunday school teachers, bus captains, and choir members with bitterness in their hearts. We would have revival in our churches if each person would get his heart right with God and forgive those who have offended him.

Some of you husbands go home and mistreat your wife because you are angry with your boss at work.  You cannot take your anger out on him, so you take it out on your wife. You need to decide that God is in control of your circumstances, and everything is for your own good. Do not go home with bitterness in your heart.

No one is perfect; we are all dirty scoundrels. We have all offended and mistreated other people. If all of us seek vengeance towards those who have mistreated us, we will all be in trouble. If you continue to hold bitterness in your heart towards someone, you will never find happiness. You will die young because of hatred and bitterness. Instead, you should realize God has forgiven you of far greater sins than the sins people have committed against you. If He can forgive you, then surely you can forgive other people.

Once you have enjoyed the sunset of forgiveness, you will never again enjoy the sunset of vengeance.  Once you have tasted the sweetness of forgiveness, once you have bathed in the sunlight of restitution, once you have eaten from the table of heavenly manna, love, and kindness, you will never be satisfied with hatred.

It is not my job to seek vengeance – that is God’s responsibility. I do not know how to play the organ; the organist knows how to do it, and that is her responsibility. I do not know how to play the piano or sing; we have pianists and musicians to do that. If I were to walk into church one day and try to play the piano or organ, I would fail at it. I do not have the training. By the same token, it is not my responsibility to seek vengeance. That is God’s responsibility.

There is a difference between my vengeance and His vengeance.  My vengeance is destructive; I want to destroy a person. God’s vengeance seeks to catch a person’s attention so He can salvage him. I am incapable of properly seeking vengeance just as I am incapable of playing the piano properly.

My job is to forgive. It is not Christ-like to be forgiven, because Christ never sinned. On the other hand, it is Christ-like to forgive. If someone treats me wrong and I forgive him, I am being Christ-like.

During my years of pastoring and counseling I have learned many things, but this one thing has been life- changing. When something happens to you, you can react in one of two ways; you can become bitter or you can become better.  If you are bitter, get right with
God.  Learn not to let the sun go down on your anger.  Then you, too, can have beautiful sunsets.

WE GIVE UP TOO SOON!

We are all just a bunch of sinners saved by grace.  I trust you will not misunderstand what I am proposing in this BLOG.  I am in no way condoning sin.  The Pharisees who read this will delight in taking statements I will make and twist them to say that I condone sin.  I am not condoning sin, but I AM saying Jesus loves and uses sinners!

Contrary to what most people say, there are not just two or three sins in the Bible.  All sin is bad!  Because we are sinners and do sin, we tend to give up on ourselves and others too soon. There is nothing you could have done had you not blown it that you cannot still do.  A man said to me, "I've committed a certain sin, can I still preach?"  Why of course you can.  Take your Bible and find yourself a street corner and start preaching to the people who pass by.  Show up for your churches' soul winning night and go person to person and give out the Gospel to the unsaved.

There are two positions in the entire Bible that certain sins would keep you from filling, but no work that you cannot do.  Every child of God should live for a purpose and never a position.  You may lose your position, but you can never lose your purpose.

A man preaches behind a pulpit, and he pastor's a church.  He commits a sin that causes him to have to forfeit his right to pastor, but not his right to preach the Gospel to every creature.  When we think of preaching, we automatically think in terms of pastoring a church from behind a pulpit; but when God thinks of preaching, he thinks of house to house, person to person, street corner, bus route, jail ministry, nursing home, or a rescue mission.

There are things he might do to cause him to cease being a pastor or a deacon; but there is nothing that he cannot do now for God that he could do then.  The only difference is it will be harder to do it.  Here's why - because folks will not pull for him.  However, don't miss this; there is nothing he could have done that he cannot do.  We give up too soon!

PETER

Think about this with me.  It is the day of Pentecost and the Apostle Peter is preaching.  Can't you just hear the critics saying, "Why, fifty days ago he denied the faith.  Fifty days ago he denied his church.  Fifty days ago he denied his Lord."  Regardless of what we think, God chose Peter to preach on the day of Pentecost.  This really irks the Pharisees of their day and our day.  The gossip Internet forums can't stand the thought of a sinner being used of God.

Some attempt to keep an up-to-date list of all of Brother Gray's shortcomings.  They gasp, groan, and moan at the crude illustrations.  They cringe at the sarcasm and grimace at the smart aleck rhetorical comments.  They shake their heads at what they call cockiness; yet they marveled at the crowds, the conversions, the baptisms, and the blessings of God.

Our churches are nothing but a bunch of sinners who make a whale of a lot of mistakes, but who keep on after the unsaved, hoping to keep another sinner out of Hell.  We admit we are sinners.  We receive sinners.  We use sinners. We refuse to think we are better than anyone else.

The successful local independent Baptist church preaches against sin, yet love the sinner.  They don't keep a list of mistakes on the leadership.  They don't publish the negatives.  They look at the positives of a person.  Yes, they preach against the sin and will continue to do so, but with as much zeal they will love the sinner.

PAUL

Can you imagine what the Apostle Paul went through?  Paul, before he was saved, was a persecutor and executioner of God's people.  Wait a minute!  Paul hit the ground preaching.  Paul didn't wait! He couldn't take systematic theology.

The truth is, when he went down to Jerusalem everybody was scared of him. He had people imprisoned and killed.  Then, he wanted to preach to the people he was formerly persecuting.  They didn't want to have him preach to them, let alone fellowship with him.  However, Barnabas went to the people and calmed them down and said, "Believe me, you can trust this man."

JOHN MARK and ONESIMUS

Paul said, "John Mark was profitable to me."  Mark had been backslidden.   Mark had left the will of God for his life.   Mark had turned his back on the Apostle Paul; but he came back to God, and Paul said, "He is profitable to me."   Hold it, that same word is used in the book of Philemon when Onesimus the slave, who had stolen from his boss Philemon, met Paul in jail at Rome.  Paul won him to Christ while in jail.  Paul wrote this letter back to Philemon asking Philemon to receive Onesimus back because he was "profitable."  That's the same word that Paul used about John Mark.

When the Scripture Luke chapter 15 says there is rejoicing in Heaven over one sinner that repents it does not say whether it is an unsaved man repenting or a saved man repenting.  Could it be either way?

FLYING TO DETROIT TO TEACH AND PREACH

I will flying out of the Longview airport this morning and catching a flight to Detroit from DFW.  I will be teaching and preaching for my dear friend Dr. Marc Dalton.  He pastors the LAKECREST BAPTIST CHURCH of Waterford, MI.  This is a soul winning church and is one of my favorite places to preach.

GREAT SOUL WINNING SO FAR

I reviewed my soul winning New Testament stats this morning and I was praising the Lord for a wonderful year so far.  God allowed me to lead 291 to Christ and 63 of those followed the Lord in baptism.  I believe in and practice personal soul winning.  I believe the command is for every one of God's children to personally lead folks to Christ for salvation.  I also believe that every local church is commissioned to take the Gospel to their Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria, and the uttermost part of the earth.    This is the number one activity of a church.

SEEK TILL YOU FIND IT

SEEK TILL YOU FIND IT

Luke 15:4, 8, “What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

The Scripture does not say how long the shepherd sought the sheep. It just says he sought till he found it. It may have been an hour or a half a day. However, it does say until he found it! It may have been an entire day. How long I don’t know! However, I do know it was until he found it. It may have been for a week. I don’t know, but it was until he found it.

The Bible gives us no idea how long he sought but he had one sheep that was gone and he left the 99, not safely in the fold as the song says, but left them in the wilderness to seek the one lost sheep till he found it.

The Bible does not say how far he went to find the one lost sheep. He may have found him within a few feet. I don’t know but he sought till he found it. He may have had to travel a few hundred yards. I don’t know but he sought it until he found it. He may have had to travel a mile. I don’t know but he sought until he found it. He may have had to travel ten miles to find the one lost sheep. The Bible doesn’t say but he sought until he found it.

The Bible doesn’t say how dangerous it was as he sought the one lost sheep. Nothing is said of the danger in his search for the lost sheep in the Bible. Maybe he had to fight off some lion. I don’t know, but he sought it until he found it. The Bible doesn’t say whether he had to kill a bear but the Bible does say he sought the lost sheep until he found it. The Bible doesn’t say whether he had to kill serpents, but the Bible does say he sought the lost sheep until he found it. The Bible doesn’t say he had to fight some robbers along the way. I don’t know, but the Bible does say he sought it until he found it.

The Bible doesn’t say where he found the lost sheep. We don’t know, but the Bible does say he sought the lost sheep until he found it.

How long will it take the shepherd boy? I don’t know, but I know he is going to keep going until he find it. Where will he find the lost sheep? I don’t know, but I know he is going to keep going until he find it. How long is the journey for the shepherd boy? I don’t know, but I know he’s going to keep going until he finds the lost sheep. How far will he have to travel to find the lost sheep? I don’t know, but I do know that he will keep going until he find the lost sheep. Ok, how dangerous will it be for the shepherd boy? I don’t know, but I know he is going to find that lost sheep.

I can hear shepherd now! “I’m going to go till I find that lost sheep! I’m gong to stay out until I find the lost sheep! I’m going to struggle until I find the lost sheep! I’m going to go again until I find that lost sheep! I’m going to sacrifice until I find that lost sheep! I’m going to pay whatever price there is to pay until I find the lost sheep!

The same thing is said about the lady who lost the coin. It does not say how long it took her to find the coin. It does not say whether it took ten minutes or ten hours but the Bible does say she sought until she found it. It may have been an hour or a day but I do know she sought until she found it. It does not say how hard it was but it does say she sought it until she found it.

The real issue is she searched until she found the lost coin. It may have been a week, a month, or a year but the Bible does say she searched until she found it. It does not say how many rooms there were in the house. It may have been a one-room house or a ten-room house. She may have found it quickly I don’t know but I do know she sought the lost coin until she found the lost coin. The Bible does not say how long it was for the searching or how difficult it was. The Bible simply says that she sought until she found it.

Hey, that might make a pretty good life’s verse? When you start something keep on until you find it. You are looking for something keep on till you find it. Are you seeking something keep on seeking until you find it.

It was said of Winston Churchill that he was an iron peg anchored in frozen ground. Abraham Lincoln said, “Hold firm as chains of steel.” When John Morley came to America he said this as he left, “I saw two unstoppable forces in Niagara Falls and Theodore Roosevelt." Bob Jones Sr. use to say, “The test of character is what it takes to stop you.”

Keep on looking till you find it. Keep on searching till you find it. Keep on working until you find it. Keep on laboring until you find it. Keep sacrificing till you find it.

80% of all the ministerial volunteers never make it to the pulpit. How long will it take is not the concern. The concern is will you seek till you find it. How far is not the issue. The issue is will you seek till you find it. How dangerous is not the problem at hand. The problem at hand is, are you willing to keep on until you find it. Where will it be found is not the question to be answered. The question to be answered is, are you willing to keep on until you find it.

Purpose to find it, to get it, to lay hands on it, or to come back with it. Seek till you find it! “Lady you’ve lost your coin. What are you going to do?” I can hear her now, “Sir, I’m going to go find it. Where, I don’t know! How long, I don’t know! How far, I don’t know! How many rooms, I don’t know! However, I do not I will not quit until I find the lost coin.”

“I’m going to seek till I find it! If it takes a year I’ll find it. If it takes a decade I’ll find it. If it takes a lifetime I’ll find it. Seek till you find it! I’m not coming back without the lost sheep! I’m not coming back with out the lost sheep!”

25% of my freshmen college class was told they would graduate. That meant that 75% would not graduate! Shocking! However, I made up my mind that I would seek until I found it. How long will it take? I didn’t know but I knew I would seek until I found it. How hard would it be? I didn’t know but I did know that I would seek until I found it. How many years? I didn’t know but I knew I would keep on seeking until I found it.

The last of the stories in this chapter has to do with the prodigal son. Doesn’t it make sense that if we will seek until we find a lost sheep and a lost coin that how much more valuable is a lost son. God is saying shame on you when you will seek until you find possessions but wont seek until you find that lost soul.

GREAT LORD'S DAY IN UTICA, NY

PASTOR JODY MARTIN
Saturday I began with getting up at 2 am.  I drove to Tyler, TX, caught a flight to DFW, a flight to Chicago, and then to Syracuse, NY.  Storms and mechanical problems caused delay after delay. I arrived at my motel in Utica at 10:30 pm.  What a day of travel.

SUNDAY SCHOOL
I taught the Auditorium Sunday school class at the GOSPEL LIGHT BAPTIST CHURCH.  I taught my  lesson "10 REASONS FOR FAILURE." This was the 11th anniversary for this local church.  This is a soul winning church.  God gave them 10,292 souls saved in their 11 years.

THE MATT WEBER FAMILY
The Matt Weber Family provided the special music for Sunday.  What a blessing to listen to the wonderful godly music they presented.  In a day with so much liberal gospel music it was a blessing to hear them sing and play multiple instruments.

They have produced 3 CD's and I
THE MATT WEBER FAMILY
can highly recommend their music.  There harmony was extraordinary. If you would like to order their CD's you can contact Pastor Martin at 315-269-3621 or 315-865-4627 and he will direct you to them. This is refreshing music.

SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE
I preached Sunday morning my sermon "WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?"   At the invitation 24 precious people trusted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.  Sunday night I preached my sermon "CONSIDERING THE END" and once again the altars were full.  These are dear people of God and  they took the Gospel to the streets of Utica on Saturday with 28 dear folks being won to Christ.  The pastor and his family are personal soul winners.  They are leading the way by example.

TWO NEW BOOKS

These are 384 page hardback books with beautiful dust jackets. If you loved "WHEN PRINCIPLE WAS KING" you will definitely love these books.  Dr. Shelton Smith told me that when he received his copy he began to read it and could NOT put it down until he finished it.  We sold 3,000 copies in a matter of weeks.

These two new books contain 33 chapters of material that is provoking and challenging.  Most books of our day are sermons  simply put into book form.  This is not the case with these books.  I deal with provocations thrown our way by liberals as well as pseudo fundamentalists. We are at a crucial fork in the road where many need to be evoked to take the right path.

"TRIAL BY FIRE" and "JACK HYLES-The Communicator" will be coming off of the presses in 6 to 8 weeks in MN.  Books are put into a case of 16 when they are printed.  We receive our books in those cases of 16.  I asked the printers to put 8 of each into a case of 16.  They agreed to do so.

As a result when you receive a case you will receive 8 of each book in that one case.  The books will sell for $25 per book after they come off of the presses.  I have offered the case of 16 to local churches and bookstores at 50% off.  A case will cost $400 but when a church or bookstore orders under this pre-sale they will receive them at the 50% off.

A case normally costing $400 will cost $200 plus S/H.  That is $12.50 per book.  Please take advantage of this sale.  You will receive 8 of "TRIAL BY FIRE" and 8 of "JACK HYLES-The Communicator" in one case of 16.

Call 903-576-1307 or 903-237-9019 to order.  Also, you may email dayres5@juno.com or bgraysr@me.com to place an order.  This sale is only good for the pre-printing time of 6 to 8 weeks.

We compile the list of pre-sale orders each Friday and send them directly to the offices in MN, so they will be able to ship the cases directly to you from the printers.

I do not make any money off of the books that I write and sell.  The money goes directly back into the printing of future books.  I believe in these books and we must keep alive the teaching and examples of the great men of the past.   These men built remarkable and powerful ministries with millions being kept out of hell without COMPROMISE.

You can go to SOLVECHURCHPROBLEMS.COM and visit our store to see the other books I have written.  Also, you may download free sermons and view my itinerary   I have a BLOG that I put out once a week and you can subscribe for the BLOG.
