John 14:2, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”

Take moment and think of the various places you have heard of and eventually were able to travel to see! What kind of proof do you have that the city exists besides a map? Usually it is just a testimony of its reality. My testimony concerning Heaven is found in the Scriptures.

Jesus said He was going to prepare a “place.” This is not a figment of someone’s imagination. This is a real place with real streets, real mansions, real wall, and real gates.

Psalm 121:2, “My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”

Acts 4:24, “And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:”

Isaiah 40:12-14, “Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance? Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counseller hath taught him? With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?”

Heaven has three divisions of the first heaven, the second heaven, and third Heaven where is the dwelling place of God.

The first heaven is the space between the waters above and the waters beneath. This space is called the “firmament” heaven. It is the atmosphere, which surrounds the earth and contains clouds and water. It is where the birds fly and is the part we call the “sky.”

Genesis 1:20, “And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.”

Genesis 7:11, “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.”

Genesis 8:2, “The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;”

These verses explain to us about the windows of heaven being opened and then stopped at the beginning and the end of the flood.

I Kings 8:35, “When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain…” No rain because the heavens are shut up! According to Daniel 11:4 the winds originate in heaven. Job 38:21-26 explains to us that no one can understand the activities of heaven. (That explains your weatherman’s predictions)

Beyond the earth’s atmosphere you have the sun, moon, and stars.

Genesis 15:5, “And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.”

Deuteronomy 1:10, “The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.”

Deuteronomy 4:19, “And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.”

The third Heaven in the Scriptures is the very dwelling place of God. It is far above the other heavens.

Ephesians 4:10, “He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.”

II Corinthians 12:1-4 tells us that Heaven is above the earth. Psalm 103:11 explains that Heaven is “high above the earth.” Acts 1:10, “And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up…” Jesus went “up” into Heaven. Genesis 14:19, “And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth.” God owns Heaven just as He does earth.

Heaven’s contents and activities are real. Every thing in Heaven was created by God according to Revelation 10:6 and Colossians 1:16. “And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are…” “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.”

Our Heavenly Father is there in Heaven at this very moment. Matthew 6:9, “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven…” According to I Kings 8:27 Heaven and the heavens cannot contain God and Solomon recognized that! So, He is omnipresent with Heaven being His dwelling place.

God hears our prayers from Heaven according to II Chronicles 7:14. God sees from Heaven according to Psalm 33:18-22 and Psalm 11:7.

God has spoken aloud from Heaven Exodus 19:9-10 explains. God spoke to Moses and the people could hear it. He spoke to His Son Jesus when He was baptized according to Matthew 3:17.  God spoke to Saul of Tarsus in Acts 9:3.

In Acts 1:10 we find Jesus being received back into Heaven. Mark 16:19 and Luke 24:51 also speak of Jesus being received up into Heaven.

Jesus stands to greet those who trust Him for salvation when they die and enter Heaven according to Acts 7:55-56 and Hebrews 9:24 along with I Timothy 2:5.

Satan does not live there but he visits Heaven. He is called the “accuser of the brethren.” One day, after the rapture of the saints, in the middle of the seven-year tribulation period he will be kicked out of Heaven and not allowed access any more. Revelation 12:10, “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.”

Angels are assigned from Heaven to protect children according to Matthew 18:10. Angels are ready to go to war according to Matthew 26:53, Daniel 4:35, and II Kings 6:17. Angels came to roll the stone away in Matthew 28:2. The angels strengthened Jesus according to Luke 22:43 and actually came to proclaim the birth of Jesus according to Luke 2:15.

An angel will shout when the Lord comes back for His own according to I Thessalonians 4:16. Jesus has all power over angels, authorities, and powers according to I Peter 3:22.

Rewards will be there according to Matthew 5:12; 6:20; 19:21; 25:23; Romans 2:10; and James 2:5. Our new bodies are there in Heaven according to II Corinthians 5:1. Citizenship for the saved is there according to Philippians 3:20. Hope is found there according to Colossians 1:5. Records are there in Heaven according to Luke 10:20; Malachi 3:16; Ephesians 3:15; Deuteronomy 30:19: and Job 16:19.

Psalm 119:89, “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.” God has promised to every generation and every nation that He would miraculously give preserved inspiration of His Words to each generation and each nation. There is a Heavenly language that is not Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, or English. God has given translations through men not too men for every generation and every nation. It is all under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost. The truth is when we arrive in Heaven we will not speak Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, or English but God’s language.

Zephaniah 3:9, “For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.” So, if you learn Greek it will not help you to understand the Scriptures but rightly dividing the WORDS of God (II Timothy 2:15) is the answer for all of God’s people. By faith we trust that God will keep preserved inspiration for all generation and nations. That is His job and I trust Him to do so. It is not rightly dividing the Strong’s Concordance or the Young’s Concordance but the Words of God.
